My new toy
I managed to snag an extremely rare and much sought-after Polaroid accessory that has been high on my hit list for a long long time... For a while, I wondered if they had all been destroyed or were just a myth.
Paraphrasing the auction text: "This is an NPC-manufactured MF-9 Polaroid Speed Magnification Back System for Nikon FE/FE-2/FM/FM-2 cameras. Unlike normal Polaroid "proofing" backs that produce a 24x36mm image, the Speed Magny produces a full-size image on Polaroid film using an NPC-developed enlarging optic. This system includes two Polaroid backs! One for Pack Film usage and one for the the usage of SX-70 Instant Polaroid Motorized Dispense film." Every Speed Magny I've ever seen was for the Nikon F (like this and this) - not my beloved FE-2. But I had read about these seemingly government-issue-only, specially manufactured and incredibly expensive ($2000 in 1980!) versions for the FE/FM which use a more modern design and optic... And that there was an even more mythical SX-70 back out there somewhere. I love my FE-2 so much already. But finding the proper Speed Magny for it?!? It's almost too much. And guess what's even crazier than finding this? The seller has ANOTHER one in just as good condition. Another set just like this one!!! Email me and I'll put you in touch with him.
